This post traces my line back through my mother’s adoptive maternal line, specifically her maternal grandfather’s surname line, the Williamsons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was written to try and bring some order to a variety of posts concerning the Williamsons. I am organising them into two categories: purely genealogical (i.e. relationships etc.) such as this post and “stories” related to one or more Williamsons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First I need to establish my oldest proven Williamson ancestor, stepping back a generation at a time. This post covers the ancestry in England and a later post the ancestry in Ireland<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I may not be “genetically related” to the Williamsons, but I was brought up with tales of what various Great … Grandparents were or did. I consider them relatives through my mother’s adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legally my mother was related<\/em> to Everard William Willett and his wife Elizabeth Ann Williamson; they were her legal parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because of the lack of genetic relationships, I cannot use (my) DNA to solve any brick walls. I know of only one living male-line Williamson, but like me, he is protective of his privacy and I doubt he would be willing to have his “blue print” on a semi-public DNA database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

William Blizard Williamson, born around 1811, in “Ireland”, is the earliest Williamson ancestor that I can find in English records. Stepping back through the generations I can show how I am related.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In each step\/generation, I use census records and birth and marriage records to get back to the previous generation. Having done that, I try to ensure that I have documented the basic genealogical records for the person in question; birth or where applicable baptism, marriage, and death and probate. I also include details of any known children – restricting disclosure to deceased relatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
