Are We Related: Faulder

The purpose of this post is to collate comments of a “Are We Related .. to the Faulder family (as detailed on this blog)”. This is one of a group of pages collating “Are we related” type comments, which are intended to either:

  • document how we are in fact related, or
  • collate remarks about non-relations to act as a point of reference for other families which may, in this case, share the Faulder surname.

Where comments have been moved from another post I have inserted a reference to the original post. I have also inserted a summary and link to any work I have done on the suggested relationships.

My cousin has done a substantial amount of research into our family and has gone as far back as the mid 1700’s.We are prepared to share this information with other faulders who may be carrying out similar research. Briefly my father Donald had a brother Kenneth and were the sons of Edwin.

[Sebergham Cumberland line] My ancestor was William Faulder born 30 August 1769 in Sebergham Cumberland, possibly son of John Faulder and Margaret Pool. He married 20 September 1796 Mary Jane Moorby in Skipton on Craven, Yorkshire. They went on to Northumberland, Tynemouth, South Shields Durhamshire and then finally settled in Oswestry Shropshire. He was an excise supervisor. There must be some information out there about the Faulders of Sebergham and also where they lived before… possibly Scotland. Are they all connected? There were many in the parish records of Sebergham. Would like to compare notes with others who are researching this family. Jean in USA Actually, all the members of this William Faulder line except John Thomas who went to Australia, died and I believe I am the only descndant around.

[Sebergham Cumberland line] I am looking for relatives in UK. My great-grandfather was Joseph Thomas Faulder, who married Mary Norton. Joseph came to Australia on a ship called “Helen” in 1841. He was born at Boustead Hill, County of Cumberland. Can you help me? Joseph’s son John Richard Faulder was my grandfather.

    Hi,

I am descended from Elizabeth Faulder who married George Irving in 1843 in Hayton, Cumberland. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Faulder (school teacher) and Jane Chambers. I am interested if anyone associated with this family has done autosomal DNA testing. My father, Philip Wood, has tested at 23andme and his GEDmatch kit no. is M609847

Our Faulder genes immigrated to New Zealand.

    best wishes

[I am a descendant of] Joseph Thomas Faulder (not John Thomas) who came to Australia in 1841. He was granted land at Yass NSW in 1848. He was a native of Boustead Hill – County of Cumberland (near Carlisle) – so his ship passenger information states. His father was William Joseph Thomas Faulder, who was my great grandfather. His son John Richard Faulder, was my grandfather and Frederick Charles Faulder (1920-1987) was my father.

I visited England in 2014 and found a gravesite belonging to John Faulder at St Michael’s Church – Burgh by Sands and just wonder if this is this my ancestor – William Faulder’s father?

I am so happy to find this site as I have been investigating the Faulder Family tree for some time. Any information you can share with me is gratefully appreciated. << Privacy Cut >>
